  2. Managed to get the podium finished And ready. replaced a leaking oil pressure switch (no pictures) We also waterproofed the tent and the awning.
  3. Overlanding vol. 2023 is coming up fast… New mounts for the tent was bought and mounted. I hope for less hassle and a less noise from the roof rack when traveling on gravel roads. A storage box was also bolted down, it will house the dogfood and other items ( but not the dog ) 😵‍💫
  4. After several folks driving behind me their first comment was always "left brake light is out".. As it´s LED´s i was of the assumption that they dont break But after e few hours of searching i found the culprit where the mechanic had spliced the wirring loom back together after the chassis repair. For once it was not lucas "the prince of darkness" but just a human error ... got the cables sorted and crimped. tidying up and taping the stuff back together for maximal water proofing.
  5. The preparation for this years expedition to Norway is started. Decided to build a new platform in the back getting rid of the pesky legs.. Two sections of steel were bolted to the sides of the tub. On them is other sections screwed to 16mm of mdf. This will give rigidity and keep the platform from move forward. Locks have been ordered to keep the platform from coming loose when off-roading. Carpet has been ordered and is in the mail..
  6. That did not end Well at all. I Got the flange changed an drove a few days, and then the flange on the rear diff came loose 😕 So we had to get the truck towed to the merchanic. Now that and the filters and oil is also fixed. The electrical Gremlins continued, and i had to replace the affected fuse box. I am pretty happy about the result. The other half of teamweneedcoffee was very generous when time came to my birthday 🥳 she bought me all the parts for the full ram mount setup on the dash. Left was just to create and 3d print the ashtray delete and underlay for the rough track 27cm. Equally happy with the result. 👌 now it’s time to find som black 6mm self tapping screws.
  7. The brand new alternator, was leaking oil from the vacuum pump. So the spare parts shop sent over a new one, which hopefully is not leaking. so out came the old one and in with the new part. MUCH easier than last time… The day was dedicated to Land Rover workshop time so the output flange on the gearbox was changed as well.. a job that has been overdue since we bought the car 😵‍💫 there where NO threads on the bolts holding the prop shaft. there’s a filter and oil change waiting in line. Along with a fuel filter change🤪
  8. Vi er desværre hjemme, glæder mig og hører om vi skal booke det i kalenderen næste år..
  9. For the first time since "forever" we packed up the defender for a weekend trip. A part of the National Danish Forestry in Vestjylland, had made the forest open to cars for first weekend of may. We had planned it with a small pack from klanrover.dk, booked a campsite in the middle of the area. Klosterheden is only open to cars the first weekend i may every year. The dog didn´t take the chance of getting left behind. We arrived late thursday night and set up camp During the night our mates turned up Klosterheden is knows a good spot to watch beavers. (we didnt see any), but clearly evidence of their havoc Friday was stay at home in camp day, and more people joined. Saturday I had planned a 140 km greenlaneing in Klosterheden and the surrounding parts of Vestjylland. We all drive or dream of land rover, but some members drive more comfortable vehicles.. Though dont be fooled its a 4 motion with seikel components and all terrian tires. A rare sight in Denmark (Victoria Street Station) on the VLTJ railway. VLTJ is (Vemb - Lemvig - Thyborøn Jernbane) and is a local railway, the special thing about it that a danish group made a song about it.. wich gained cult status. (dont judge just laugh - VLTJ) On our way back we got in contact with with @John Nielsen wich casually was nearby, we had a good chat and hope to see him and Mette again soon. Back in camp it was time to get cosy in our new frontrunner chairs. Sunday was breakfast and pack up and go home
  10. Sadly the Google maps won’t work out in the wild.. I’d didn’t get gps fix from the device..
  11. Owning a Garmin over lander in Europe has for the past 3 years been a sad story. No Satelit images No topographic maps. Was thinking about selling it… That all ends here… I made the dive into “sideloading” android apps on to the device from a SD card. Technically you find the apk file for the given app and place it on a SD card. Place the SD card in the overlander and install the apps to the device. With this method I managed to get Organic Map ( offline maps) CTEK Battery Sense Google Maps (only works with internet connection) Installed and working
  12. Arrrgghh I’m fighting to keep the car in overland zen mode 🤧 Every time I fix something a new thing “breaks” going to the vet on Wednesday I found. Out that front and rear lights where dead… checking fuses, relays wires and had the instrument torn apart.. managed to find the fault in the socket that connects the wire to the fuse box under the passenger seat. the odd thing is the light switch shouldn’t get power from there at all 😳 but managed to get it fixed in the end. #lucastheprinceofdarkness
  13. More gadgets. Some time back i bought the BinOwl TD5 Gauge. Link And after my work bought a 3d printer, i got their case stl file for it. Finally get around putting it together. It Shows lots of info, but it resets every time the car i stopped but no error codes (which i have the Nanocom for)
  14. More build 👏 Yesterday i finished a long overdue project. Cleaning up the wiring mess on the roof rack. 5 lamps. 1 tent 1 solar panel Now wired in a small and unnoticeable little box found online originally for trailers.
  15. For what ist worth 2 days after my latest post the alternator went south and the car didn´t charge. On takeing the parts of i broke the 2 wires for the "smart" generator, so close to the plug that i had to solve to soldering new wires on, as the plug is nowhere to be found in europe, with less then 10 days delivery. (cant wait that long) New wires solderd in place I removed the old parts, and sent of for new ones, 2 days from England og express (thats good service from LRparts.dk) a few hours and brused knockles later the alternator is back in and we are charging 14.02 volt on idle. New alternator and belt tensionner. All done and testing
