Jesper Løwe
Arrrgghh I’m fighting to keep the car in overland zen mode 🤧 Every time I fix something a new thing “breaks” going to the vet on Wednesday I found. Out that front and rear lights where dead… checking fuses, relays wires and had the instrument torn apart.. managed to find the fault in the socket that connects the wire to the fuse box under the passenger seat. the odd thing is the light switch shouldn’t get power from there at all 😳 but managed to get it fixed in the end. #lucastheprinceofdarkness 2 1
Jesper Løwe
The brand new alternator, was leaking oil from the vacuum pump. So the spare parts shop sent over a new one, which hopefully is not leaking. so out came the old one and in with the new part. MUCH easier than last time… The day was dedicated to Land Rover workshop time so the output flange on the gearbox was changed as well.. a job that has been overdue since we bought the car 😵💫 there where NO threads on the bolts holding the prop shaft. there’s a filter and oil change waiting in line. Along with a fuel filter change🤪 2
Jesper Løwe
That did not end Well at all. I Got the flange changed an drove a few days, and then the flange on the rear diff came loose 😕 So we had to get the truck towed to the merchanic. Now that and the filters and oil is also fixed. The electrical Gremlins continued, and i had to replace the affected fuse box. I am pretty happy about the result. The other half of teamweneedcoffee was very generous when time came to my birthday 🥳 she bought me all the parts for the full ram mount setup on the dash. Left was just to create and 3d print the ashtray delete and underlay for the rough track 27cm. Equally happy with the result. 👌 now it’s time to find som black 6mm self tapping screws.
Jesper Løwe
The preparation for this years expedition to Norway is started. Decided to build a new platform in the back getting rid of the pesky legs.. Two sections of steel were bolted to the sides of the tub. On them is other sections screwed to 16mm of mdf. This will give rigidity and keep the platform from move forward. Locks have been ordered to keep the platform from coming loose when off-roading. Carpet has been ordered and is in the mail.. 2
Jesper Løwe
After several folks driving behind me their first comment was always "left brake light is out".. As it´s LED´s i was of the assumption that they dont break But after e few hours of searching i found the culprit where the mechanic had spliced the wirring loom back together after the chassis repair. For once it was not lucas "the prince of darkness" but just a human error ... got the cables sorted and crimped. tidying up and taping the stuff back together for maximal water proofing. 1
Jesper Løwe
Overlanding vol. 2023 is coming up fast… New mounts for the tent was bought and mounted. I hope for less hassle and a less noise from the roof rack when traveling on gravel roads. A storage box was also bolted down, it will house the dogfood and other items ( but not the dog ) 😵💫 2 1
